SEO for lawyers, by the matter a client is already in.

Property, family, criminal, commercial. Each one is a different search. The firm page that tries to be all of them ranks for none.

Starting fee ₹40,000 a month, plus GST. The column marked on this page is that scope. The other published columns are below.

A wooden desk with files tied in red tape, a black coat on a hook, and blank-spined volumes.
A chamber desk. Editorial image, generated for this site. Not a firm’s office and not a client.

A matter can fund the month. A free first chat cannot.

No substantial study of what Indian law firms spend on SEO was identified in the sources reviewed on 11 October 2026. What is published are guides to legal fees, and they are wide. Fintolit (16 May 2026) describes, as a guide rather than a Bar Council schedule, High Court appearances at about ₹5,000 to ₹50,000 a hearing and property disputes at about ₹30,000 to ₹5,00,000 or more. Top-tier hourly rates published in dollars by the India Business Law Journal billing survey are a different market. They are not what a Delhi consumer practice bills, and they are not used to set this fee.

Interpretation: a retained property or court matter, inside the ranges that guide describes, can cover one or more months of a ₹40,000 retainer. A free first consultation cannot. Recommendation: the firm this page is for is one that is hired for matters of that weight. A firm that wants a page titled Best Lawyers in Delhi is the wrong client. That page will not be built.

01 The problem

Firms lose the instruction between the search and the retainer.

These are ways a firm site fails a person who already has a matter. They are not a finding about every firm.

  1. 01

Every area of law is on the menu

A page that claims property, crime, family and startups, when the firm does two of those, is a trust problem. It is also a page that ranks for none of them.

  2. 02

The search is the profession, not the problem

‘Lawyer in Delhi’ is a crowded head term. A person with a title defect or a cheque-bounce complaint is searching for that problem.

  3. 03

The form asks for the whole dispute

A stranger will not paste pleadings into a public website. The enquiry dies there, or it arrives somewhere it should not.

  4. 04

    Outcomes are invented

Superlatives, win rates, and matters the client did not agree to describe are refused. So is a review written by this practice.

02 The work

What the retainer covers for one firm.

Practice areas the firm will take this year. Not a library of every statute.

  1. 01

    Practice-area pages

One URL per matter the firm takes, naming the lawyer and the court or city they work in. Areas the firm does not practise are left off.

  2. 02

    The Google profile

The firm’s name as clients know it, a category that matches, and a phone someone answers.

  3. 03

    A short first contact

The form asks for a way to reply and a sentence about the matter. It is checked against the inbox the firm names.

  4. 04

Technical fixes on the existing site

Titles, internal links, and pages that compete with each other. Copy that states a legal result waits for the firm’s correction.

  5. 05

    Monthly reporting

Enquiries from non-brand search, and a plain read of what did not move. No position is guaranteed.

03 The process

How an SEO engagement runs

The research step is the matters the firm will accept this year. A keyword with volume and no instruction behind it is dropped.

  1. 01

    Audit

The site, the Google profile, and whether a call or a form is actually counted. The reply says if search is the wrong channel.

  2. 02

    Research

The searches that match services the business sells. Competitor pages are read for structure. Their claimed results are not treated as facts.

  3. 03

    Strategy

Which pages to publish, which to refuse, and which pricing column the scope fits. Written down before the monthly work starts.

  4. 04

    Implementation

Technical fixes, internal links, the profile, and the pages. Anything that states a professional fact is corrected by the client before it goes live.

  5. 05

    Check

Forms, the phone number, redirects from old URLs, and schema that matches the visible page. No review markup is added to invent a rating.

  6. 06

    Report

A monthly read of calls and form fills, including what did not move. The report is the work. It is not a ranking promise.

04 The search

The useful page is the matter, the lawyer, and how it starts.

Found is the practice-area page. Trusted is the lawyer’s name and enrolment, and a plain account of how a matter starts. Chosen is a short form or a call. If the website is the constraint, the build is website design for law firms.

Bar rules that constrain advertising are the firm’s to state before the copy is written, and the copy follows that constraint. This page sells a marketing service. It is not an advertisement of a legal matter, and it is not legal advice.

Pages a small firm needs.

A few practice areas. The people who take them. A way to start that does not ask for the file.

  1. 01

    The firm

Name, city, and the kinds of matter taken. No slogan about being the leading firm.

  2. 02

    Practice area

One matter. Who does it. What the firm will not take.

  3. 03

    Lawyer

Enrolment and the work they do. A biography that stops at the facts.

  4. 04

    How a matter starts

What to send, whether a first look is charged, and how the firm replies.

  5. 05

    Contact

Name, phone, and a short note. Not an upload of pleadings.

Proof

No firm result is published here.

There is no law-firm case study on this site. No enquiry count, no ranking, and no client name. The chamber image was generated for this site.

A later testimonial would name the person, have their permission, and describe the pages that were built. It would not describe a matter’s outcome. None is published now.

Legal marketing statistics sits in the research archive. The cost-per-lead figure on that page is US search advertising. It is not an Indian SEO fee, and it is not what this practice charges.

Published client work has to meet the case study standard. This page does not invent one to fill the gap.

Fee

One firm, a handful of practice areas.

A content programme across many areas, with comparison pages, is the Growth column.

GST on these services is 18%. The local column has a three-month minimum. The larger columns have six. Domain tools and advertising spend are extra. A ranking is not included.

Monthly retainer, billed in advance, excluding GST. No setup fee. The number in the column is the fee for that scope. Reporting and a strategy call are included at every tier.

  1. Growth SEO

Several practice areas and a steady set of articles the firm will correct.

    ₹65,000 a month, plus GST

The full discipline on one site: technical foundations, a content programme built on commercial intent, earned links, and visibility inside AI answers — one retainer instead of four line items.

    • Complete technical SEO — crawl, index, render, speed, schema
    • Keyword and intent strategy scored on commercial value, not search volume
    • 4 content pieces a month, briefed, written and edited — production included, not billed on top
    • Internal linking architecture that moves authority to the pages that make money
    • AI SEO (GEO): entity and schema work, llms.txt, AI-answer visibility tracking
    • 3–4 earned links a month through outreach and digital PR
    • Conversion rate input on the pages that already rank, so more of the traffic converts
    • Monthly reporting against enquiries and revenue — not rankings alone — plus a strategy call
    What you are paying for

48 published pieces a year, roughly 40 earned links, a technically clean site and a documented keyword strategy — all of it yours to keep. Bought separately, the content, the links and the technical work are three suppliers and three invoices; here they are one fee and one person accountable for the result.

6-month minimum — the first quarter is foundations and rarely shows in revenue.

  2. Broader SEO

A large firm competing beyond one city. Not the usual instruction.

    ₹95,000 a month, plus GST

A programme built around the buying decision — the comparison, the alternative and the objection pages your sales team already answers on every call.

    • Cluster architecture mapped to the buying decision, not the product taxonomy
    • 8–10 pieces a month including comparison, alternative and JTBD pages
    • Product-led content built with your team's subject expertise
    • 6–8 links a month plus a running digital PR programme
    • AI search visibility programme across ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews
    • Competitor displacement: which of their pages we take, and in what order
    • Pipeline-attributed reporting — sessions to signups to qualified pipeline
    • Monthly strategy call with your growth or marketing lead
    What you are paying for

The pages your sales team already answers on every call — comparison, alternative and objection pages — built at 8–10 a month with links behind them, plus reporting that follows a session through to qualified pipeline. Content production sits inside the fee, not as a second invoice.

6-month minimum. Content production is included, not billed on top.

Questions

Questions firms ask.

How much does SEO for a law firm cost?

₹40,000 a month, plus GST, for one firm on the Local + Website SEO scope. That covers the profile, the practice-area pages, and the website’s own SEO. A firm that wants a large content programme across many areas is the Growth plan at ₹65,000 a month, plus GST. The fee is not a share of fees recovered.

Will the pages say we are the best lawyers in the city?

No. The pages say which matters the firm takes, who does them, and how to start. Superlatives and invented case results are refused. So is a page aimed at a practice area the firm does not actually do.

Is client information safe on the form?

The form asks for a way to reply and a short description of the matter. It is not a place to upload pleadings. What happens to that message is the firm’s inbox, which is tested before launch. This page is not legal advice about confidentiality duties.

Do you guarantee the first page for ‘lawyer near me’?

No. Anyone offering that is guessing. What is agreed is the work and a monthly read of whether enquiries from non-brand search are moving.

Send the site. The reply says whether this retainer fits.

If the business is outside lawyers, or this scope is the wrong size, the reply says so. There is no calendar on this page. The form is the request.

Replies usually go out within one working day.
